Quicksilver ROCKS

Posted on October 04, 2005 at 07:25 AM

I recently found Quicksiler through the TextMate Weblog. Man does it ROCK. It has quickly replaced spot light for the primary task I used spotlight, quickly opening applications from the keyboard. I tend to keep both hands on the keyboard most of the time and anything I can do to minimize using the trackpad is welcome. Its so much faster the spotlight. Of course they do two very different things. Quicksilver has a list of applications and doesn’t try to index the contents of every document on the system, so it will find the application, or relevant item more quickly if you know the title. Spotlight goes to the contents first, which is also powerful, but tends to be slower for my goal of opening applications.

Software Ownership

Posted on October 03, 2005 at 09:27 AM

I just finished an essay on software ownership for my “Ethics in the Information Age” class. I’ll try to convert it to textile or html later today, after work and class, and post it up for the world. It’s by no means great, but it’s something different, thats for sure.
